Conferry

The ferries that travel from the mainland of Venezuela to Margarita Island are either modern and fast or old and slow. The faster ones are the Express ferries and the slow ones are the conventional ferries. The rates differ depending on which one you choose. You can also take a vehicle on either one at a bigger cost. I would point out that after dealing with thousands of tourists we would still recommend that
you take one of the 35 minute air shuttles to Isla Margarita from Caracas, Venezuela
- a lot less hassle, about the same price and much faster. In the last couple of years the ferry service deteriorated considerably. In the fall of 2011 the national government took over the ferry service of Conferry.
Only time will tell how this will turn out.
Their track record with other take overs has not been good.
