Anaconda Snake…

The snake photos you posted don't match the story you've heard about them.
The snake pictured is most definitely not an Anaconda. It is a Reticulated
Python (Python Reticulatus) which only occurs in South-East Asia (Indonesia,
Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia). The Reticulated Python has been
known to get as large as 33' long and while very, very rare, it has attacked
humans. Its normal diet is rodents, with the larger snakes occasionally
eating a small goat or pig. They are very intelligent and alert snakes.
They are constrictors (non-venomous) which means they wrap around it and
squeeze to eventually suffocate their prey. I'm quite familiar with them as
I've got a smaller variety of a Reticulated Python as a pet.

Anacondas live in South America in the Amazon basin. They too get huge, but
they have very different markings--generally they are dark green with black
or yellow spots/blotches. Their pattern is much less ornate and geometric
than the Reticulated Python.

The photos you found are semi-famous in the world of snake enthusiasts.
While the python pictured definitely has a large meal in it's stomach, there
is debate as to whether or not the picture with the man was staged or not.
Who knows, but interesting pictures nonetheless.
